Itinerary
This tour lasts the whole day and gives you a chance to take a break from the waterfalls and visit the cultural and historical Jesuit center in San Ignacio. It is about 270 km away from Iguazú and has been declared a UNESCO Cultural Heritage site. The ruins there will help you understand and be amazed by the great work of the Jesuits. These ruins, called the Reduction of San Ignacio, were created by Jesuits, and built by the Guaraní people almost 400 years ago. The temple's front, made of pink sandstone in 1610, was reconstructed in the 20th century. The ruins had been hidden under the jungle for almost two centuries.
Many tourists visit this site each year. It is in the center of San Ignacio, 60 kilometers from Posadas on Route 12. The tropical climate in the region can cause the monument to be covered with microorganisms that break it down, but with the donation, they can keep it in good condition.
After exploring the San Ignacio Ruins, we will head to the Wanda Mines near the Paraná River. You will see the entrance sign and artisans selling stones. These mines are unique because they are outdoors. You can walk around, explore caves, and even watch operators perform explosions for drilling basalt. These mines are like big caves where you can go inside and see the gems before they are turned into beautiful things. Watch how the miners work to keep the whole gems together. You will see different kinds of precious stones like amethyst, milky quartz, clear quartz, and more. It is a cool way to explore and learn about these special rocks. Know the history behind the famous Wanda Mines. A long time ago, hot lava came up from the ground and made these rocks. The rocks have crystals like amethyst, quartz, agate, and more. These crystals are the kinds of stones that people use to make beautiful jewelry. It is like a treasure chest full of shiny and colorful gems. You can explore the mines and see these amazing stones up close. It is a way to travel back in time and discover the natural beauty hidden in the earth for millions of years.
Wanda Mines is another interesting place in the region. Here, you can see high-quality stones in open mines of semi-precious stones. You will get to witness the wealth of minerals.
