Itinerary

Embark on a magical journey to discover two enchanting castles in the Paris region – Fontainebleau Castle and Vaux le Vicomte Castle. The adventure begins from our meeting point in the heart of Paris, and after a 1-hour and 15-minute ride, you'll find yourself surrounded by the mystical atmosphere of the Fontainebleau forest, leading to the impressive Fontainebleau Castle.

Fontainebleau Castle is truly special, being the only royal and imperial château continuously inhabited for a whopping seven centuries! Dating back to the 12th Century, it served as the residence for French rulers from Francis I to Napoleon III. The castle boasts a mix of medieval, renaissance, and classical styles, each reflecting the influences of various kings throughout history.

As you explore with your audio guide, you will marvel at the rich furnishings, unique collections, and iconic pieces such as Napoleon I's throne and the famous horseshoe-shaped staircase. The tour also takes you through the château's private apartments, offering a glimpse into the luxurious comforts enjoyed by its residents. After the guided visit, take a leisurely stroll through the vast park and three picturesque gardens that surround the château. Feel free to enjoy lunch on the lawns or at the on-site restaurant.

Next, start on a 45-minute journey to Vaux le Vicomte Castle, a masterpiece that inspired the construction of Versailles. Built in the mid-17th century, this architectural gem was brought to life by three talented artists working for Nicolas Fouquet, a prominent French official and Louis XIV's superintendent of finances.

The audio-guided tour at Vaux le Vicomte takes you through Fouquet's private apartments, state rooms, great kitchens, and vaulted cellars. Immerse yourself in the 3D sound commentaries, offering a unique experience with historical figures like Molière and Louis XIV. Children will have a blast dressing up for a fun-filled visit.

Do not miss the opportunity to ascend to the dome of Vaux le Vicomte for a breathtaking view of the castle park. Wander through the splendid French garden, covering a 35-hectare estate adorned with sculpted shrubs, water features, and vibrant flowerbeds. Again, lunch can be enjoyed freely on the lawns or at the castle's restaurant.

The departure from Vaux le Vicomte ensures your return to the center of Paris. Throughout the day, you'll be transported through time, surrounded by the beauty and history of these two remarkable castles, making it a journey you'll cherish forever.
