Itinerary

Dive into Paris’ intellectual and cultural heart on this Latin Quarter walking tour, exploring historic landmarks, hearing stories of saints, scholars, and national heroes, and discovering hidden gems along the Left Bank. The Latin Quarter is a center of intellect, art, and free thought, home to centuries of philosophers, writers, and revolutionaries. Starting at the famous Shakespeare and Company bookstore, once frequented by Ernest Hemingway and Gertrude Stein, this tour covers iconic figures like Marie Curie, Voltaire, and Josephine Baker, who all left their mark on French history. There has been plenty of furious debate here, but the Latin Quarter is also a place of beauty and of contemplation with some of the most picturesque places in Paris.

On this walking tour, learn about the remarkable saints and scholars who left their mark on this historic part of the city. The journey begins in front of the iconic Shakespeare and Company bookstore, once frequented by literary legends like Ernest Hemingway, Gertrude Stein, and Ezra Pound. The tour wraps up at the ancient Arènes de Lutèce, a Roman amphitheater over 2,000 years old, offering a glimpse into the city’s deep-rooted past.

The route includes a visit to the Panthéon, a grand mausoleum honoring France's national heroes, and the ancient Roman Arènes de Lutèce amphitheater. This shrine honors French national heroes, including Marie Curie, Voltaire, Victor Hugo, Rousseau, Alexandre Dumas, André Malraux, and Josephine Baker. I will show you the National Museum of Natural History. You can also visit the Cluny Museum, which combines the Abbot of Cluny's grand residence, the city’s ancient Roman Baths, and Alexandre du Sommerard’s valuable medieval art collection. Along the way, landmarks such as Church of Saint-Étienne-du-Mont, where Sainte Geneviève is buried, add a spiritual touch.

As one of the few remaining Roman structures in Paris, this tour offers a glimpse into the city’s ancient past and serves as a fascinating contrast to the modern surroundings of the Latin Quarter.
