Itinerary

Le Marais is a district in Paris that was once a wealthy area and is now a center for the local Jewish community. You can find bookstores specializing in Jewish literature, restaurants serving traditional Jewish dishes, and a synagogue. This neighborhood is also known for its narrow medieval streets, unique shops, and quirky restaurants, similar to Shoreditch in London.

The Marais is one of the most interesting neighborhoods in Paris because it has transformed so much over the past 1,000 years! Known for its winding streets, it is easy to get a bit lost here. This tour covers the best spots in the Marais and fascinating stories from its history. Discover the top shops, delicious restaurants, bakeries, the Jewish Quarter, and stunning plazas and old homes. Learn how Paris was almost entirely rebuilt according to one man’s vision, and hear tales of how nobility once dueled here to defend their honor.

This tour also offers a visit to the famous landmarks in Paris. Visit the historic Church of Saint-Gervais, one of Paris's oldest churches, and Sully Hôtel Sté, a former aristocratic residence. One of the oldest buildings in Paris, Hotel de Sens, along the road, is right out in the open, with a garden in front. It has been beautifully restored, but look out for the cannonball embedded into the eastern wall- one of Paris' quirky oddities from the French Revolution. Among other highlights is the Place des Vosges- arguably the most beautiful square of Paris. Its lawns and greenery have always been a big success. Explore Archives Nationales, located in the heart of the Marais, the Historical Center of the National Archives preserves the archives of France from the Merovingians to 1958. The Marais truly offers something for everyone, making it the perfect area to explore and enjoy the essence of Paris.
