Following a picturesque drive along the mountains through stunning valleys, you will reach Berchtesgaden. Upon reaching Berchtesgaden, you will have time to explore this charming alpine town. Nestled in the heart of the Bavarian Alps, Berchtesgaden is known for its picturesque streets and traditional Bavarian architecture. It is the perfect place to soak in the local culture and enjoy a bit of free time before continuing your journey.
Next, you will head up to the Obersalzberg mountain, where history and nature meet. Here, you will have the chance to visit the NS-Documentation Center, a museum that provides an in-depth look at the region’s role during World War II. The exhibits offer a thoughtful exploration of this significant period in history.
The highlight of the trip is the ascent to the Eagle’s Nest. After a scenic drive along the mountains through impressive valleys, you will reach Berchtesgaden. From there, you will continue to the top of the Obersalzberg mountain, where the famous Eagle's Nest is situated. You will board a special bus that takes you up the mountain, followed by an elevator ride tunneled straight through the rock. This unique journey brings you to the Eagle’s Nest, perched high above the valley with panoramic views of the surrounding Alps. The Eagle’s Nest is located above Berchtesgaden at an elevation of 1,834 meters above sea level.
At the top, you will have time to explore the Eagle’s Nest, a historic site with a powerful connection to World War II. Originally built as a high command post for Hitler’s 50th birthday, it now serves as a reminder of the past, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Bavarian Alps. Take in the stunning views and reflect on the site’s history before making your way back down.
