The Blue Ice Experience and Fjallsárlón Iceberg Lagoon combine our most popular glacier walk, the Blue Ice Experience, with an amazing iceberg boat tour on the Fjallsárlón glacier lagoon. Arrive at the National Park Visitor’s Centre in Skaftafell at least 20 minutes before your tour begins. Here, you will meet your experienced glacier guide, who will provide all necessary safety instructions and gear, including an ice axe, crampons, and a harness, before you head over to the Falljökull glacier. The experienced glacier guides will lead you safely through the glacial wonderland of ridges, crevasses and ice formations. Once equipped, your guide will lead you to the outlet glacier. As you step onto the glacier, you will feel like you have entered another world. 

Marvel at the stunning ice sculptures, ridges, and deep crevasses as you traverse this icy wonderland. Your guide will share fascinating insights about the glacier’s formation and features while ensuring your safety. Experience the thrill of walking on kilometers of pure white ice intertwined with blue and smoky hues, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. After your glacier hike, drive your rental car to Fjallsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Upon arrival, meet the Zodiac boat team and prepare for the next part of your adventure.

Board the small and agile Zodiac boat tour, which offers a scenic boat ride through the pristine ice lagoon. Sail right next to the most interesting icebergs and go up close with the massive icefall of Fjallsjökull glacier terminal face. Your boat will get close to the massive icefall of Fjallsjökull glacier terminal face, and if you are lucky, you might see a piece break off the glacier’s edge into the lagoon. 

The boat tour begins about afew hours after your glacier walk ends. This gives you enough time to have lunch and drive to Fjallsárlón base camp. At Fjallsárlón, the Frost restaurant has a good choice of meals, like soups and sandwiches. The drive between Skaftafell and Fjallsárlón takes approx. 50 minutes. Please make sure to arrive 20 minutes before departure of both tours.
Please note that the Skaftafell parking lot fee is not included in the tour price.
