Itinerary

Discover Florence’s most iconic masterpieces and architectural treasures in a single, unforgettable day. Your day begins with a total immersion in the Accademia Gallery, guided by an expert who will accompany you throughout the entire experience. Inside the museum, you will discover Michelangelo’s most renowned masterpiece, the David, along with other important works such as I Prigioni, San Matteo, and the Palestrina Pietà. You will learn how the young Michelangelo carved David from a huge block of rough marble over three years, creating an imposing sculpture that became an icon of Renaissance art. The figure’s powerful body and intense expression, inspired by faith in God, came to symbolize strength, courage, and the invincibility of the Florentine Republic at the height of its splendor. After the Accademia visit, the walking tour continues into the Medici district, where you explore the area once lived in and admired daily by the famous Florentine family. You will see the magnificent palace that was their home, the ancient Church of San Lorenzo, and the Medici Chapels, which served as their mausoleum and remain a key part of Florence’s history and identity.

A short walk leads you to the extraordinary Duomo monumental complex, one of the most impressive religious centers in the world. Here you will admire the Baptistery with its famous golden “Porta del Paradiso,” the Cathedral crowned by Brunelleschi’s iconic dome, and the elegant Giotto bell tower, all standing together as symbols of Florence’s artistic and architectural greatness. The tour then moves through the charming streets of the medieval district where Dante and Beatrice once lived. Along the way, you will encounter the imposing Church of Orsanmichele, a unique masterpiece of Florentine Gothic art. You will also pass through the lively Straw Market, where tradition suggests rubbing the nose of the famous “porcellino” statue for good luck.
Continuing on, you arrive at Piazza Signoria, the political heart of Florence and one of the most beautiful squares in the world. This open-air museum features the striking Fountain of Neptune with Ammannati’s marble statue and the remarkable sculptures of the Loggia dei Lanzi, including Cellini’s Perseus and Giambologna’s Rape of the Sabines. Overlooking the square is the majestic Palazzo Vecchio with Arnolfo’s crenellated tower, one of Florence’s most recognizable landmarks. From here, you follow the exterior of the elevated Vasari Corridor toward the romantic Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in the city, famous for its historic jewelry shops, where this part of the walking tour comes to an end. You will then enjoy free time for lunch on your own, or upgrade for the typical lunch option in a restaurant located in Florence’s old town.

In the afternoon, the experience continues inside the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most celebrated museums in the world. Accompanied by your guide, you will admire works by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaello, Giotto, Cimabue, Masaccio, and many others. Special attention is given to Botticelli’s refined masterpieces, Primavera and The Birth of Venus. The latter, an icon of the museum, depicts the goddess emerging from sea foam and represents the Renaissance Neoplatonic ideal of beauty as purity and spiritual harmony. The guided visit concludes at the Uffizi Terrace, where you can enjoy an exclusive panoramic view of Florence’s most important monuments. Once the tour ends, you are free to remain inside the museum and continue exploring at your own pace.
