Rome is a mysterious city and you can witness all the major landmarks which will be an incredible experience. Enjoy a tour of the Velabrum. Go back in time to approximately 3000 years ago to a previous century. Listen to the stories that will help you know how Rome came into existence.

Velabro comes from the word velus meaning marsh in Latin. It is believed that the valley from the Roman Forum to the Tiber was submerged by river water and over a course of time it became a swampy area. Velabro's name was changed to velabrum showcasing the characteristic of this area.

This area is worth visiting as it is believed that the founders of ancient Rome Romulus and Remus were found in a basket. People say that Romulus and Remus were found by a she-wolf and took care of them. It is also believed that the she-wolf was not an animal but she was a poor courtesan named Acca Larentia. She used to visit the place to earn bread butter and found Romulus and Remus.

Velabro is an area that preserves great history, myths, and beauty. Here you will explore architectural beauties. Also, you will come to know the emergence of idioms and customs of the past. Visit ancient temples, churches, and arches that will greet you to reveal interesting stories and secrets.

The tour will begin from Piazza Bocca della Verità and then pass by the Church of Santa Maria in Cosmedian constructed in the 7th century on the border of the Foro Boario which is an ancient food market in proximity to the Tiber River. This is an ideal model of medieval architecture.

Bocca della Verita is a significant marble mask and is still feared today. It is a must-see for people visiting Rome. Since 1632 it stood on the pronaos wall. During the last century, Bocca della Verita makes its presence in movies. This was the stage for the scary scenes in the film ‘Roman Holiday’ and it contributed to the film's success.

Now the tour will continue to the Quadrifrontal Arch which is popularly known as the Arch of Janus which will take to St. George Church in Velabro. This thousand-year-old church was named after the St. George of Cappadocia, the venerated saint and martyr from the East. There are several stories related to St. George of Cappadocia and the most famous is that he killed a dragon and also saved a princess.

The Arch of the Argentari is located next to this church. This is popular because of magic. It is believed that if pronounced in front of this arch you can become rich. If you are lucky and not greedy then you will become rich.

You will then reach Piazza della Consolazione and witness the Tarpeian rock. Then you will witness the Church of San Nicola in Carcere. See the Foro Olitorio and Foro Boario and understand how temples are well preserved till now.
