Itinerary
Montserrat is a unique rocky formation, whose easily recognised silhouette is one of Catalonia’s best-known symbols. Montserrat Abbey, which was reconstructed in the 19th century, safeguards a 12th-century image of Catalonia’s patron saint, Our Lady of Montserrat, a Black Madonna popularly known as ‘La Moreneta’ (little dark one), and is an important site for pilgrimage and prayer for Catholics from all over the world. Take a ride on the rack railway to the top of the Montserrat mountains and be mesmerized by the breathtaking views of these mystical peaks. Located not far from Barcelona, the Montserrat mountains offer a beautiful landscape that is best experienced from the train. Once at the summit, enjoy a comprehensive guided tour that will lead you to the Benedictine Monastery and the famous statue of the Virgin of Montserrat, also known as the Moreneta or Black Madonna. Your booking includes travel on a fully equipped bus, a multilingual guide fluent in English, Catalan, and Spanish, and a scenic journey on the rack railway to the top of Montserrat.
