Overview

The Real Alcázar of Seville, one of Spain's most outstanding specimens of Islamic and Mudejar architecture, is one of the most fascinating sites that can be seen on this journey. It is both historically significant and breathtakingly beautiful. Before reaching the Real Alcázar, you will travel through the narrow lanes of the Barrio Santa Cruz, the former Jewish neighborhood. The palace, which is still in use by the Spanish royal family, is an architectural marvel that draws inspiration from many different civilizations and time periods. This is an exceptional opportunity to travel back in time and discover Seville's rich history and cultural heritage.

Itinerary

The journey begins in the Barrio Santa Cruz neighborhood, where you'll travel through the old Jewish neighborhood's winding lanes and visit the renowned Plaza de los Venerables.

The Real Alcázar is the next stop on your tour. Here, you can observe how several architectural styles, including Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Islamic-Mudejar, have coexisted. The Real Alcázar, the oldest continuously occupied royal palace in Europe, has served as a residence for the Spanish Royal House.

Your tour guide will discuss the palace's lengthy history, including Abderrahmán III, the first Caliph of Cordoba, who built it in 913, as well as any later alterations and improvements. Real Alcázar is still the seat of the Crown and the center of municipal authority in the city as a result of the Castilian conquest of the region in 1248–1249.

You have the choice to stay longer in the Alcázar Gardens after the trip concludes to continue exploring or unwind in the lovely surroundings. To experience Seville's rich history and natural beauty like never before, book your Historic Seville Tour that includes a guided tour of the Real Alcázar right away.
