Morning Tour:
Start your day with a friendly guide who will pick you up from your hotel. Begin exploring the vibrant city of Hanoi. Arrive at Tran Quoc Pagoda on Golden Fish Island in West Lake. This 6th-century pagoda is the oldest in Hanoi and offers stunning views and serene surroundings. The Tran Quoc Pagoda is Hanoi’s oldest temple. It sits on the tiny Golden Fish Island on West Lake (Ho Tay), joined to the lake banks by a causeway. It is a picturesque spot, but the temple was not always here. Originally, in the 6th century, the pagoda was built on the banks of the Red River.
Visit the Ho Chi Minh complex. Stroll through the gardens and see the houses where Ho Chi Minh lived and worked from 1954 to 1969. The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex is an important place of pilgrimage for many Vietnamese. A traffic-free area of botanical gardens, monuments, memorials, and pagodas, it is usually crowded with Vietnamese who come from far and wide to pay their respects to 'Uncle Ho.' Then, visit the unique One Pillar Pagoda, dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy. Famously known as 'the most unique pagoda in Asia', one pillar has a unique architectural structure. The pagoda looks like a lotus flower which also happens to be the national flower of Vietnam. The pagoda is in the lake with a square structure on a stone pillar.
Visit the Vietnam Ethnology Museum to learn about the cultures of Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups. Enjoy a delicious Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant featuring eight traditional dishes. Afterward, return to your hotel for a brief rest.
Afternoon Tour:
Continue your tour with a visit to the Temple of Literature. Established in the 11th century, it was Vietnam's first university and a symbol of its dedication to education. Visit Hoa Lo Prison Museum, historically used by French colonists for political prisoners and later by North Vietnam for U.S. prisoners of war during the Vietnam War. Known as the "Hanoi Hilton" to American POWs, this site offers a sobering glimpse into Vietnam's past Hoa Lo Prison, one of the most brutal prisons with extremely cruel punishment, is a historical place that has witnessed the strong determination of Vietnamese revolutionaries and their sacrifice for the country. Conclude your tour and return to your hotel, having experienced Hanoi's rich history and culture.
