Itinerary

The Palace of Versailles, nestled on the outskirts of Paris, stands as a testament to the grandeur and opulence of French royalty during the 17th and 18th centuries. This UNESCO World Heritage site served as the lavish residence for three successive French Kings: Louis XIV, Louis XV, and Louis XVI, until the seismic events of the French Revolution in 1789. Today, it beckons visitors from around the world to explore its majestic halls, intricate gardens, and rich history.

Your journey to Versailles begins with a comfortable 45-minute ride from the heart of Paris aboard a luxury air-conditioned coach. During this time, your guide provides an insightful introduction to the palace's storied past, setting the stage for the grandeur that awaits.

Upon arrival, the sheer scale of the Palace of Versailles is awe-inspiring, covering an expansive area of over 721,000 square feet. Housing more than 700 rooms, the palace unfolds a captivating narrative of regal life. Your guided tour ensures you bypass the queues, leading you straight to the palace's most magnificent rooms.

The King's Grand Apartments, a collection of seven rooms each dedicated to a different god (Apollo, Mars, Mercy, Venus, etc.), offer a glimpse into the splendor of royal life. The Queen's Grand Apartments, mirroring those of the king, boast the Coronation Room and the Queen's Bedroom, once graced by the presence of Marie Antoinette. Among the highlights is the breathtaking Hall of Mirrors, a masterpiece designed by architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart. Stretching almost 240 feet, this unique room dazzled guests with its 17 windows, 350 mirrors, and panoramic views of the palace's enchanting gardens.

The Gardens of Versailles, a masterpiece in their own right, were commissioned by Louis XIV in 1661. André Le Nôtre, the appointed landscape architect, transformed the grounds into an outdoor masterpiece that rivaled the opulence of the palace itself. As integral as the palace's construction, the gardens beckon you to wander through their enchanting landscapes. Here, you will encounter 386 works of art, including over 200 statues, fountains, ponds, flower beds, and majestic trees.

During the summer months, the Gardens of Versailles come alive with the Grandes Eaux Musicales, a captivating spectacle where fountains dance to the rhythm of music. This immersive experience adds a touch of magic to your visit, allowing you to appreciate the gardens in a dynamic and vibrant setting.

Versailles is more than a historical place; it is a living example to the artistic and architectural prowess of its time. The intricate Baroque decorations, artworks, and furniture found within the palace were crafted by the most skilled artisans of the period, adding layers of cultural significance to every corner. The palace and its gardens beckon you to step back in time, offering a glimpse into the extravagant lifestyle of French royalty and the enduring legacy of Versailles.
