During the Bay of Pigs incident in 1961, the house was the venue for a meeting between President John F. Kennedy and British Prime Minister Harold MacMillan.
The Little White House continued to be the quarters for commanding officers until the closure of Truman Naval Station in 1974. In 1996, President Jimmy Carter and his family spent their holiday at the house and celebrated New Year's Eve with loved ones.
